The Context
The REALTOR® Party and the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) can no longer rely on the strength of its grassroots alone to be effective in today’s world of political influence.
The cost of protecting and advancing the business interests of Multiple Listing Services (MLSs), REALTOR® Associations, and real estate professionals, rose dramatically with the Citizens United Supreme Court decision in 2010. This ruling opened campaign finance doors to soft money and deep pockets. The cost to compete against these well-funded entities (like data aggregators, for example) is higher than ever. If the REALTOR® Party and RPAC are to remain competitive and effective, we must change our fundraising strategy.
