Cloture: The
formal procedure used to end a filibuster, which can take up to three days and
requires 60 votes. Cloture can also be used, even if there is no filibuster
underway, to ban non-germane amendments. If cloture wins, 30 additional hours
of debate are allowed prior to voting, but they are rarely used. If cloture
fails, debate would continue without limits, although in most instances the
bill is usually set aside.

Now Open
Early voting
is now open in many states. As FPCs, please help us get out the vote (GOTV)! Realtors
need to lead the way to the polls on November 4th. If you will be
traveling early to New Orleans for the annual conference, be sure to get your
absentee ballots and encourage others to do so as well. To see if early voting

FPC Spotlight
FPCs
continue to do incredible work across the country and many of you are getting
recognized as the top of your class. Last week, Betty Schutte, FPC for
Senator Mitch McConnell, was elected Realtor of the Year for Kentucky during
their state convention. Keep up the great work! Meanwhile, Gail
Ackerson-Hartnett co-hosted a successful fundraiser for her Member of Congress Mike
Simpson and her Governor Butch Otter.Well done Gail!
NAR Sends Letter to
FHA on Property Flipping Waiver
On Friday, October 3, NAR President Steve Brown sent a
letter to FHA Commissioner, Carole Galante urging FHA to extend the property
flipping waiver that allows FHA financing on single family properties that are
being resold within 90 days of the previous acquisition. NAR has seen the
positive effects of the waiver where property rehabilitation and resale of
these homes has increased the availability of safe and affordable homes in many
